Visas in Laos

I finally managed to write down the menu of visa prices while standing in a queue at Luang Prabang Airport recently.  Prices vary widely by country.  Seems like it might be a case of payback in terms of if it’s expensive for a Lao person to get a visa in your country it will be expensive for your nationals in our country!  I wonder what the Canadians did to deserve such a price? 

Depending on your nationality visas are available on entry into Laos for the following prices (in USD):

• Australia – $30
• Canada – $42
• Eastern Europe – $30
• Hong Kong - $30
• India – $40
• Japan - free
• New Zealand – $30
• Western Europe – $35
  • except for France $30, Germany $30, Sweden $31
• USA – $35
